The Power of 1000 Commitments: How We Become the Leader We’re Meant to Be
If you’re new to a role and struggling with knowing when the right time is to offer feedback, then understanding the 1000 commitments may help.
When you’re in a new role, it can feel like everything is up for grabs: your identity, confidence, and career and so it’s important to remember that…
It takes 1000 commitments to become the person you’re becoming.
When you’re creating change, whether it’s stepping into a new job, building confidence, or reclaiming your Main Character Energy, it doesn’t happen in one magical moment.
It happens in the micro-moments.
In the split seconds where you choose to back yourself, even when it’s uncomfortable.
In the small acts of courage, repeated over time.
We fall off the wagon and default to old habits, and it’s easier to stay quiet and play small even if we want to speak up and take up space.
But messing up isn’t what matters; it’s the recommitting to the person we want to become that does.
When we recommit, we reconnect to the vision of our future self.
Like when you break a bone, the fracture site, once healed, becomes the strongest part. Why? Because it’s been reinforced through the act of repair. It’s had to knit itself back together again and again.
And that’s exactly what we’re doing when we choose to take the courageous step forward, we’re knitting the person we are now into the person we’re becoming.
It happens each time we speak up in a meeting, when we hold a boundary, when we take aligned action instead of shrinking backward. That’s what 10000 commitments means.
Journal prompt:
What are you currently committing to, even if it feels a little scary or stretchy right now?
Write it down and then say it out loud.
Recommit today, and again tomorrow.
